to the perpetuation and preservation of the Hawaiian culture. It is a community event, taught by Hawai'i’
s esteemed educators, cultural specialists, historians, elders, and teachers whose purpose is to share
the Hawaiian culture through dance, music, arts, demonstrations, lectures and crafts. It is also a social
event that brings the community together in the spirit of aloha (love) and lokahi (harmony).
Revenues raised are contributed to the Scholarship Trust Fund used to send California fifth graders to
Hawai'i to attend the Kamehameha Schools’ Hawaiian Exploration Summer School Program, and to fund
the future Hawaiian Cultural Arts Workshops.
CULTURAL STUDY TOURS
Study Tours are coordinated with the cultural specialists in Hawai‘i to give the participants hands-on
experience of the Hawaiian traditions, protocol and values: a connection to the people, their way of
life – past, present and their hopes for the future. This knowledge serves to develop their artistic
talent, whether it is dance, music, crafts or teachers. It serves the continuance of our culture, as
passed on by our elders.
